Gather your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets and immerse yourself in the music and drama of Madame Butterfly performed by the world-class singers and artists of the LA Opera. Against the backdrop of a 1930s film set, the tale unfolds with an American officer seeking a bride in turn-of-the-century Japan and a scheming marriage broker who promises an easy dissolution of the marriage. The opera will be broadcast live onto a massive 20x30-foot screen, directly from the stage of the renowned Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown LA. Arrive early to unleash your creativity with family-friendly crafts, balloon animals, face painting, a biodegradable glitter bar, and the enchanting illusions of Magic Castle magician Dana Pleasant. Thanks to the generous support of Los Angeles County, LA Opera is able to present these simulcasts free of charge as a special gift to the community. Don’t miss this unforgettable experience!
